grandfathered tenants

A grandfathered tenant is a tenant who we inherit. So basically, an owner will hire us to manage his/her property that already has existing tenants.

In some cases you will inherit a tenant who’s been blacklisted before. This means you could have evicted a tenant who trashed the house, owes you $3000 and then end up renting to them again by default.

This happens more often than not with larger scale owners.

We once inherited a toe killer. I’m serious – we read in the news a toe was ripped off with pliers to settle a drug debt and this later became our tenant. I was afraid for my toes.
